The following companies have produced and/or distributed Hong Kong-made films. In many cases, their sites will offer information on their films or even the official websites for productions past and present. Please don't be put off by a few of the Chinese-language sites -- the official sites, graphics, downloads and information are all well worth visiting.

Brilliant Idea Group: Site under development. Will it be as good as films bearing their logo, like Bullets Over Summer, Juliet In Love?

China Star Entertainment: These people have a pile of popular films to their name. Recent successes under the 100 Years of Film label include Okinawa Rendez-vous, Help!!! and the romantic comedy smash Needing You. In Chinese only.

Film Workshop: The company home to a pile of Tsui Hark directed and related projects, including The Blade, A Chinese Ghost Story, The Lovers and the newer Dragon Inn. To be bilingual.

Golden Harvest Entertainment: Large studio dating back to the '70s with a list of films containing Jackie Chan actioners and more. Notable recent films include Hold You Tight, Fly Me To Polaris and And I Hate You So.

Golden Scene: This distributor has brought some of the most interesting international films to Hong Kong shores, from The Iron Ladies and Gohatto through to Nang Nak and Gemini. Websites for these films are stored here, as well as the terrific pages for Fruit Chan's Durian Durian. In English.

Goldig Films: This company produced and distributed 158 Hong Kong movies between 1970 and 1983. Find sleaze (The Peeper, The Model And The Hypnotist), kung-fu (Mantis Fists & Tiger Claws of Shaolin) and comedy ("Fertility" Bank), as well as the first Chow Yun-fat films. In English.

Mandarin Films Distribution: A film company with official sites for the likes of Troublesome Night 4 and All of a Sudden linked from their page. Mainly in Chinese.

Media Asia Group: Specialists in big-budget productions such as 2000AD and Purple Storm, this company is also busy putting out a huge back catalogue of films on video fomats. Bilingual site.

Media Evangelism: This Christian organisation has invested in filmmaking. The company's notable works are Sometimes, Miracles Do Happen and The Boss Up There (with associated comic book). In Chinese only.

Mei Ah Entertainment Group: One of the largest video distributors in Hong Kong, Mei Ah has also produced and co-produced such films as Spacked Out (official page on this site) and Sealed With a Kiss. Bilingual site.

StarEastNet: This company also works on film projects, including Conman in Tokyo and Healing Hearts. In Chinese only.

Universe Films Distribution: Another large video distributor, this company has recently specialised in bringing mid- to low-budget productions to the screen, from Phantom Call to Roaring Wheels to Love Correction. In Chinese only. Under Universe International Holdings (bilingual site).
