Exodus From Afar (1998)It's straight back to the 80s with this one. Black curses, glowing skulls, sorcerer vs. sorcerer outbursts, protracted scenes of nudity, vomiting out centipedes, ultra-cheap hand-made effects and low-rate acting... all set in Thailand. Woven in somewhere in a very confusing plot, partly like this: Yvonne Yung Hung's partner, Chiang (Tsui Kam-kong) is dealt with a black curse. He keeps going missing in Bangkok and somehow winds up in bed with ladies who seemingly gain immense thrills from his stubbly head. With the help of a tailing TV crew, Yvonne and co. seek help from a good sorcerer - a specialist in reversing curses by the expected unconventional means. Fans of the old sorcery-in-SE-Asia genre may like spotting the familiar faces from various older routine black curse flicks, as well as some stock footage. One hour into film, it says its the sequel to Devil Sorcery (1988), another mediocre black curse and porn flick set in Thailand. By the time they spliced in ample footage from said film, I was lost. |
