Raped by an Angel 4: The Raper's Union (1999)Two rapists have escaped prison to enter the fold of ex-CIA agent Ben Ng, a hi-tech rape veteran from the US. Finished with the captives in the basement, the nasty three set their lecherous sights on the writer next door (Suki Kwan) and her girlfriends. When actress and friend Icy (Yeung Fan) disappears and comes to a grizzly end, Suki and her cop boyfriend look into the sinister neighbour. With the guidance of the 'ancestor of all rapists' Human Milk Drinking Doctor (Anthony Wong), the gang seek revenge.
Wong Jing's credited as the director, but compared to his other recent films (as director, that is) it's a quickie. Marvel at windows that break and fix themselves and standard-issue Yuen King-tan boob jokes. The lone pyrotechnic stunt hits hilarity. Athena Chu vaguely reprises her role from part two and only seems to be in the flick to star on the poster and lobby cards. Same for Nick Cheung and Yiu Lok-yi ñ quality actors and all, but pissing about in this. At least enthusiastic Ben Ng stands out as the arch-rapist and Anthony Wong's cameo as an ex-rapist turned porn projectionist (it keeps his urges safely under control) is fun. In fact, a lot of this film is genuinely funny, but the bottom line is that it's a rape comedy. At least there's curiosity value to be had. DVD information: The disc, put out by Winner's Entertainment, sports a new censorship advice form. Not only does it bear a date months after the theatrical release, but it carries a slightly different running time and a Cat-III logo. Is it a new edit? Is it more brutal? Has the sleaze been re-shot? No, no, and no. I spotted no differences between this and the Cat II-b version I saw on the big screen. So what do you get with this package? There are two sets of subtitles (English and Chinese) ñ all clear and easy to read. The picture quality very good, right up there with the best Universe DVD titles. |
